A Brush with Worlds Unseen

A Memoir

After connecting with the spirit of Giacomo Favretto, an Italian painter from the 1800s, while in Bali, Indonesia, Shannon travels to his hometown of Venice, Italy, where she stays in his former home on the Grand Canal.

Arriving in Venice during its epic Carnival season, Shannon is led down a surreal and thrilling path of spiritual mystery and self-discovery. She courageously follows her destiny deeper and deeper when suddenly, like a bolt from the blue, she finds herself smack dab in the epicenter of a newly evolving pandemic.

Shannon is locked down in Italy for weeks before making a daring journey home to the United States where she descends into the darkness of a terrifying, unrelenting mystery illness. When nothing helps to heal her, Shannon takes up a profound inner healing journey to find answers.

Through this intensely painful, beautiful, and mystical healing process, she learns extraordinary lessons in life and gains a newfound divine understanding of why challenges come into our lives.

About Giacomo Favretto

Giacomo Favretto (August 11, 1849 – June 12, 1887) was an Italian painter, mainly depicting genre subjects in Venice, his native city.

Favretto was born in Venice into a family of humble origin. His father was a carpenter and he spent many years in the family workshop. Favretto enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in 1864, where he trained under Pompeo Marino Molmenti. He was said to have been discovered in a stationer’s shop cutting out silhouettes to make a living. By age 30, he had lost sight in one eye.

A Brush with Worlds Unseen

A combination adventure story and deep dive into the human psyche of spiritual growth

There is much to say about Shannon’s wonderful book and memoir but to summarize I’ll say, ‘Authentic’.
– She shares her story of personal growth and transformation genuinely
– It’s both an adventure story and deep dive into the human psyche of her spiritual growth and need to discover her life’s purpose
– Her story is very relatable for anyone who begun the work of figuring out what’s important and the meaning of their own life
– Her ‘dark night of the soul’ moment is painful to witness, but energized and inspired me with courage to forge forward living my own life

Shannon did what many dream about doing but few actually do. She started off on an adventure of self-discovery, got knocked down, picked herself up, and then wrote a book about her experience.

She’s a very good writer. She’s even better at looking in the mirror and giving an honest analysis when what’s staring back at isn’t what a person wants to see. Shannon has gumption!
